Kesseböhmer gas spring replacement If the pump of your gas spring is broken, you need to replace it. Make sure that when you replace the gas spring, the piston rod (thin rod of the gas spring) points downwards when the valve is closed. This will keep the ring in the gas spring well lubricated, which will make the gas spring last a long time again. Usually a Kesseböhmer gas spring lasts about 7 years with proper use. Pressure of the gas spring When ordering, pay attention to how many newtons your current Kesseböhmer gas spring has. The higher the pressure in the gas spring, the stronger the Kesseböhmer gas spring is. By the way, it does not mean that if you now have, for example, a 200N gas spring and it is broken, you should just buy a 380N gas spring so that the valve will no longer sink down. If you do this then the valve will shoot up hard and be very difficult to push down. Advice is to choose again the same number of Newton that was in it before. After this the gas spring will last as long again. Dimension Kesseböhmer gas springs The most common gas spring has a center to center dimension of 19.5 cm. This means that when the gas spring is pushed all the way open, the center of both ball heads is 19.5 cm. If you measure the gas spring to both ends, the size is 21 cm. If the gas spring is broken, you will notice that the lid of the cabinet sinks down slowly, sometimes even hard. Usually there is also oil on the piston rod. You should then buy a new Kesseböhmer gas spring.
